Falling in love with Omorovicza at The Four Seasons

I’ll be frank – there are few things that I love more than a good spa treatment. I’m a pretty no-nonsense gal about most things, and while I like my home and myself to be pretty, I’m not actually very fancy at all. But, when it comes to having a good ol’ treat, a spa treatment is my number 1 way to go. In fact, when Ant proposed to me, he took me for a fully body massage that afternoon to celebrate – the boy knows me well. So when I was invited to hear about the new range being stocked at The Four Seasons The Westcliff Spa, called Omorovicza, and then asked if I wanted to experience it for myself, I was beyond excited. For starters, I’d never been to The Four Seasons spa, and when I began researching Omorovicza (pronounced ‘oh-more-oh-vicks-ah’) there products sounded amazing, so I couldn’t wait to get my hands on some – or rather, my skin on some.

The first thing that you should know about Omorovicza is that it comes straight from Budapest, Hungary, home of beautiful people and incredible thermal bath houses. When you visit Hungary, it’s pretty standard practice to spend all your free time in a bath house, and there are literally hundreds of them in the streets of Budapest. But more than just being a place where you can hang out and bath with your mates (that old favourite past time) it’s actually considered in Hungarian culture to be an imperative part of staying healthy and treating illnesses. With the first thermal baths having been built there over 2,000 years ago, some doctors even prescribe bathing in different thermal bath houses in the country as part of treatment for certain diseases – how wild is that?! Someone, please buy me a one-way ticket to Budapest, thanks.

The founders of Omorovicza, Stephen and Margaret, are so passionate about their products that it’s hard not to get excited about it when you talk to them. You can see that, having dedicated their lives to creating this range, they really believe in how it works and the changes it can make to your skin. I couldn’t wait to start using it. To get me started, I was given a bottle of the Omorovicza Cleaning foam (a refreshing foam cleanser for a deep yet gentle daily cleanse) and the Omorovicza Queen of Hungary Facial Mist ( a refreshing, toning facial mist for instant skin hydration) to take home. Having now used both products for about a month, I’ve loved how they make my skin feel. The toner in particular is so lovely – inspired by the Queen of Hungary Water, which is a perfume formula developed for Queen Elisabeth of Hungary in the 14th century, it smells like roses and neroli, and I love that you can use it as a bit of a skin pick-me-up at any time – you can even spray it on top of your makeup.

For my treatment, Anna Belle and I headed to the Spa at The Four Seasons The Westcliff, which, if you haven’t been before, is quite possibly the loveliest place on earth. Treatment aside (we’ll get to that) if you’re staying at The Four Seasons or just getting a treatment at the spa, you have access to the entire spa, which includes 2 beautiful pools, a steam room, sauna, delicious fruity water, tea (it’s the small things, guys) and snacks. We went a little early so that we could enjoy some time using the spa facilities, and it was glorious.

Now for the main event – the treatment. We were each treated to an Omorovicza Golden Body Treatment, which I can firmly say was INCREDIBLE. Your treatment starts with the therapist washing and massaging your feet, after which you lie down on the treatment table and are given a full body invigorating exfoliation with Omorovicza Gold Sugar Scrub, after which my skin felt smoother than any babies has ever felt. Apparently, gold has proven anti-inflammatory properties and helps to heal the micro-damage inflicted on the skin daily – all I know is that my skin felt really really lovely afterwards. After you’ve been scrubbed, the therapist then leaves you to have a lovely hot shower, which is meant to rinse off the scrub but not actually take away any of the lovely oils that have been left on your skin. After ten minutes or so, she then came back and began my massage, which lasted 60 minutes and comprised of using Omorovicza Gold Shimmer Oil and heated rose quarts eggs to rub your skin into tip-top condition. I loved the oil because it made my skin feel soft and smooth, but didn’t leave a hectic oily residue like so many body oils do, which makes you feel like you’re sliding all over the place for the rest of the day. The only side effect of the oil was that the tiny gold particles stay on your skin and make you super sparkly for the rest of the day, but I actually kinda loved it – I felt so fancy.

A few days after the treatment, my skin still feels fab, and I’m keeping up using the Omorovicza treatments on my face because I really do love the way they feel. Available exclusively at The Four Seasons The Westcliff, I have to admit that the Omorovicza price point is a little over my budget, so I;m not quite sure if I’ll be keeping up my Omorovicza love affair once these bottles run out. But if you’re looking for quality, scientifically backed and luxurious products, I seriously recommend them – and I know I’ll be dreaming of that treatment for months to come.
