Sipping Pretty at Yswara Tea Room
I’m not sure if I’ve ever been somewhere as pretty as Yswara Tea Room in Maboneng. I’d heard a little bit about this spot, and seen a few pics on Instagram, but in honesty, I really don’t think I knew just how lovely it was until I stopped by there the other day to see it in person.
I’m gonna be honest with you – my motivations for heading out to Maboneng were based far more on the prettiness of the spot itself than on tea. I mean, I love tea – sign me up for a cup of Rooibos before bed, or a cup of Five Roses, well, anytime really – but in general that’s about it. When you get to Yswara though, as pretty as the interior and décor are, your wonder for them is quickly replaced by total awe at the incredible teas that they stock.
The team at Yswara will walk you around and let you smell all the amazing teas they have on offer, and then you choose the one that you like and they brew it up in a beautiful little copper tea pot, so that you can sit on one of the insanely Instagram-able couches and sip away.
My favourite part of visiting Yswara is that each of their teas is ethically sourced and proudly African – making them not only delicious, but responsible too.
Next time you’re in Maboneng, do yourself a favour and take a cheeky trip to Yswara tea room – if not for the incredible tea, then at the very least for some ridiculously pretty pics.
The Yswara tea room is located on the ground floor of the iconic Cosmopolitan building on the corner of Commissioner & Albrecht Streets, Maboneng (opposite the Museum of African Design). Opening times are Tuesday to Saturday from 9am – 5pm and Sundays from 9am – 4pm.
